Adopcions a Catalunya i a Nova Zelanda: Traducció de la Llei d’adopcions de Nova Zelanda de 1955

Abstract

L’anglès jurídic es caracteritza per un alt grau de formalitat i això cal tenir-ho en compte en el moment de realitzar un encàrrec de traducció. Quan un traductor ha de traduir un text de temàtica jurídica o econòmica, ha de disposar d’unes bones competències lingüístiques, dominar les llengües amb què treballa i, preferiblement, conèixer els sistemes jurídics de cadascuna. L’objectiu d’aquest Treball Final de Grau consisteix en traduir un text jurídic (en aquest cas, la Llei d’adopcions de Nova Zelanda de 1955) de manera correcta i fidel a l’original. En el treball es presenta, d’entrada, un apartat teòric sobre els processos d’adopció a Catalunya i a Nova Zelanda, juntament amb una breu comparació entre ambdós. En segon lloc, s’observa la traducció corresponent al català d’una part de la Llei abans esmentada i un comentari traductològic que l’acompanya. En tercer i darrer lloc, hi apareixen els annexos que inclouen les fitxes terminològiques, els textos paral·lels consultats, entre d’altres.

Legal English distinguishes itself by having a certain formality, which must be taken into account when carrying out a translation. When translating legal and economic texts, a translator must have good linguistic skills, a command of both working languages and, preferably, knowledge of its legal systems. The objective of this final paper is to translate a legal text (in this case, the New Zealand Adoption Act 1955) correctly and faithfully to the original piece. The following paper provides, first of all, a theoretical framework on the adoption processes within Catalonia and New Zealand, together with a comparison between the two. Secondly, the Catalan translation of different sections of the above-mentioned Law and some comments on this are also included. Thirdly and finally, the paper contains appendixes gathering a terminology list, parallel texts, among others.
