Diferències de gènere en quant als factors determinants en l'elecció del grau de fisioteràpia a Catalunya

Abstract

Objectiu: avaluar les diferències entre homes i dones en els factors que influeixen a l’hora d’escollir estudiar Fisioteràpia a Catalunya. Metodologia: estudi realitzat a Catalunya amb la participació de deu de les dotze institucions universitàries on s’imparteix el grau de Fisioteràpia durant el curs 2018/2019. És un estudi amb un disseny quantitatiu, descriptiu, observacional i transversal. Dels 1.290 alumnes matriculats, 941 van formar part de la mostra (72,95%). Les característiques per realitzar l’estudi s’han mesurat a partir d’un qüestionari d’auto-emplenament i els resultats s’han analitzat amb una anàlisi descriptiva i una anàlisi inferencial. Resultats: els homes són més nombrosos (55,21%) i més grans (20,31 anys), dels factors més determinants es decanten més per l’admiració, l’ocupabilitat, els ingressos, el prestigi i la vinculació a l’esport, i són més emprenedors, mentre que les dones són menys nombroses (44,79%) i més joves (19,77 anys), ho fan per l’altruisme i l’interès científic, i s’estimen més treballar en la pràctica clínica. Aquestes diferències són estadísticament significatives (p < 0,05). Discussió i conclusions: existeixen diferències de gènere en relació als factors determinants en l’elecció del grau de Fisioteràpia a Catalunya. Els homes trien el grau per aspectes laborals i en busca d’un estatus socioeconòmic. En canvi, les dones tenen un perfil cuidador, on busquen més ajudar a la gent. Són necessaris més estudis sobre la temàtica i disposar d’un qüestionari validat.

Objective: evaluate the differences between men and women in the factors which influence in order to study Physiotherapy in Catalonia. Methodology: study implemented in Catalonia with the participation of ten of the twelve universities in which the Physiotherapy degree is taught during the 2018/2019 academic year. It is a quantitative, descriptive, observational and transversal design. Among the 1,290 students enrolled, 941 were part of the sample (72.95%). The characteristics to carry out the study have been measured as from a self-completion questionnaire and the results have been analysed with a descriptive analysis and an inferential analysis. Results: men are more numerous (55,21%) and older (20,31 years old), as for the more determinant factors they opt more for admiration, employability, income, prestige and its link to sport, and are more enterprising, whereas women are less numerous (44,79%) and younger (19,77 years old), they do it by altruism and scientific interest, and prefer to work in clinical practice. These differences are statistically significant (p < 0.05). Discussion and conclusions: there are gender differences in relation to the determining factors in the choice of the Physiotherapy degree in Catalonia. Men choose the degree by job aspects and look for a socio-economic status. On the other hand, women have a caring profile, they want to help people. It is necessary to do more studies about the topic and possess a validated questionnaire.
