The study at issue analyzes the influence of the practice of
extracurricular activities on academic performance in 5th grade students in Artés.
The total data sample of research was 61 students overall (27 boys and 34 girls)
between the ages of 10 and 11 who are currently enrolled at Dr. Ferrer
Elementary School (42 children) or at the Vedruna Elementary School (19
children). Based on the data extracted through an online questionnaire that all
participants answered, we have divided the data between students who do
extracurricular activities and those who do not, and together with the grades of
all the courses taken in the second term, we carried out the research. The results
show that participation in extracurricular activities has a positive influence on
children’s academic performance and that, in addition, the type of extracurricular
activity they practice is also a very important factor. Other elements that influence
children's academic performance are: the number of weekly extracurricular
activities and the amount of days and hours of practice per week.^^^^
