Anàlisis de l'abandonament escolar dels immigrants o fills i filles d'immigrants: necessitat socioeconòmica, desmotivació i discriminació

Abstract

L’abandonament escolar és una problemàtica social que aquests últims anys s’hi està treballant, però Espanya segueix encapçalant les llistes d’abandonament escolar més alt. Aquest fenomen afecta en més mesura als diferents col·lectius, entre ells els immigrants i fills o filles d’immigrants. Per analitzar aquesta problemàtica i els diferents factors que hi influeixen, s’ha entrevistat a un grup de joves fills d’immigrants que han abandonat els estudis, així com a una educadora social d’una UEC de Catalunya. També, com a entitat que protegeix els nens i nenes d’abandonar prematurament, hem fet qüestionaris a joves de la UEC. Els resultats ens mostren que el factor socioeconòmic és un factor que els ha influenciat directament per abandonar els estudis, sobretot quan aquesta implica veure a la família en situació de vulnerabilitat. Per altra banda, també es veu com els i les joves es troben desmotivades per a estudiar, en part degut a la falta d’acompanyament del professorat, així com per l’efecte que les discriminacions han tingut en ells i elles. School dropout or study desertion is a social problem that in recent years is being worked on, but Spain continues to lead the list of the highest school dropout rates. This phenomenon affects different groups to a greater extent, including immigrants and children of immigrants. In order to analyze this problem and the different factors that influence it, a group of young children of immigrants who have dropped out of school was interviewed, as well as a social educator from a UEC in Catalonia. Also, as an entity that protects children from dropping out prematurely, we have made questionnaires for young people from the UEC. The results show us that the socioeconomic factor has directly influenced them to drop out of school, especially when it involves seeing the family in a vulnerable situation. Furthermore, we also see how young people are demotivated to study, partly due to the lack of teacher support, as well as the effect that discrimination has had on them.
